Sleepwalking Induced by the Extended-release Zolpidem under Polypharmacy Treatment

Yi-Jui Wang, Chi-Hua Yu

Under substance/medication-induced sleep disorder in the Fifth Edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) [1], zolpidem-induced sleepwalking has been well-recognized [2, 3]. But its occurrences in ex- tended-release (ER) formulation are seldom re- ported. Here we present a case of sleepwalking that occurred with adding daily 6.25 mg ER zolpi- dem in a young male patient with schizophrenia under the treatment of polypharmacy.
